Newzones Gallery of Contemporary Art is pleased to introduce Cybèle Young to Western Canada with her solo exhibition in our “On Paper” gallery.  Cybèle Young creates intricate objects fashioned from paper. The tiny sculpted objects are sometimes combined with etched images to create relationships that engage each veiwer in a unique way.  A recent essay by Diana Reitberger states, “The tactility of the work is very much the product of Cybèle’s fascination with textile – her interest in how they denote social structure; that they represent a labour intensive activity, and that they ultimately reveal the hand of the maker”
Cybèle Young-Campbell is a young artist who attended the Ontario College of Art, where she majored in sculpture and printmaking. Her work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions, including the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and the Biennale Internationale d'Art Miniature in Quebec.
