Congratulations to Yechel Gagnon for her solo exhibition at the Maison de la Culture Frontenac entitled "Mer d'Encre". This exhibition will open on December 4, 2007 and run until January 20, 2008. |

Congratulations to Dianne Bos and Laurel Johannesson. Work by both photographers were purchased in the recent 2007 AFA art acquisition round. This program supports the collection of works by Alberta artists and encourages the development of a strong visual arts community.

We would like to welcome and congratulate our newest artist Dianne Bos for her participation in the group exhibition Time and Space. This exhibition will be traveling across Canada in 2007-08. Opening in the Helen Cristou Gallery at the University of Lethbridge, Dianne's work will travel to the Dunlop Art Gallery ( Regina ), to the Rooms : Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador and then on to the Owens Art Gallery in New Brunswick.

Congratulations to Yechel Gagnon for being invited to reproduce inks on paper for an upcoming poetry book published by Editions Noroit, a prestigious Publication House in Montreal. Gagnon is also currently doing a month long printmaking residency at Atelier Circulaire, Montreal. |

| Congratulations to Catherine Perehudoff who is exhibiting works in The Gallery in Cork Street, London, England. The show, titled Canadian Landscapes, opens on February 4 at 6pm and runs until February 9th. |

Be sure to see Yechel Gagnon's exhibition Documents at the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop's University from September 12 - November 3 2007. This exhibition traces the development of Yechel's work with plywood, her past use of it in printed works, and it's present use as the basis for her large format in-situ installations.

Congratulations to Lorraine Simms for her participation in Some Girls curated by James D. Campbell at the McClure Gallery. The show runs from September 7 - 27 and focuses on the work of four contemporary Canadian painters who live and work in Montreal. This exhibition deals with the state of portraiture in contemporary art.

Congratulations to Aleksandra Rdest, chosen as a semi-finalist for the RBC Canadian Painting Competition from a pool of over 1,400 works by 690 artists. In it's 9th year, the competition seeks to recognize and support emerging artists and awards a total of $55,000 in prize money. |

Congrats to Mike Patten for his participation in the LOOP Festival 2007 in Barcelona, Spain. LOOP is an internation exhibition of video art dedicated to the dissemination, creation and expansion of the medium. Be sure to see an exhibition of Mike Patten's new body of work, Mondrian's Garden, from September 15 to October 20 in our On Paper gallery.

Newzones is honoured to be included in the April 2007 issue of Art in America Magazine! As part of a report on the new and established Art Fairs in Manhattan, Newzones' exhibition at the RED DOT Art Fair caught the attention of the editors of the magazine. The feature on the Manhattan Art Fairs can be found on pages 33 and 35 in the April issue of Art in America.

Congratulations to Marie Lannoo on her recent exhibition See Nothing, See Everything, at the Art Gallery of Calgary. The exhibition opens Wednesday November 22nd from 5-7 pm and continues on until January 6th, 2007
See Nothing, See Everything is an installation of paintings that creates yet defies expectations. What you see is subtly transformed in the process of looking and engaging with the work. As a result, an expectation of nothing transforms into the possibility of something and a vital space is created between seeing nothing and seeing everything.

Congratulations to Sophie Jodoin whose solo show Regiment will open at the McClure Gallery (Montreal) on November 02, 2006. This public gallery will feature a new body of work by Sophie after which the exhibition will travel to the University gallery in Nanaimo, BC in March 2007 and then toToronto next fall.

Congratulations to Angela Grossman, Sophie Jodoin and David Pellettier who are participating in Dancing to the Invisible Piper: Canadian Contemporary Figurative Art. This group exhibition, curated by Robert Freeman, focuses on contemporary Canadian artists whose artwork centres around figurative art and the dipiction of the human body. The exhibition runs from September 14 until October 29, 2006 at the Art Gallery of Mississauga.
