Contemporary Calgary is a destination dedicated to contemporary and modern art. We are responding to a growing movement
in Calgary and invite Calgarians to explore, discover and imagine. With the emphasis of profiling all art of our times,
as well as its infulences and predecessors, we hope to present outstanding, challenging and ground breaking works. We
began as a collaboration of visual arts partners including the Institute of Modern and Contemporary Art (IMCA), the Art
Gallery of Calgary (AGC) and the Museum of Modern Contemporary Art (MOCA) in co-operation with members of the Calgary
visual arts community.
Newzones acted as 'Fiesta' sponsor to Contemporary Calgary's Cinco De Mayo Party.
The new AGO is Toronto-born Frank Gehry's first building in Canada and marks the very place where he made the
initial connection between art and architecture. Hallmarks of his AGO design connect the city and the Gallery
in provocative new ways including dramatic sculptural staircases, the warmth of Douglas fir, and the extensive
use of glass which infuses the galleries with natural light.
The Transformation AGO project builds on Ken Thomson's unprecedented gift of art and funding, the commitment of
other donors, the vital support of the provincial and federal governments and an innovative architectural expansion
by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry.

and preservation of our collections depend on it. In fact, nearly three quarters of Glenbow's operating budget is
based on attendance revenue, membership sales, donations, grants and sponsorships.
