Artist Statement

Chris Flodberg's career has been defined by evolution; a continual process of growth, experimentation, and the search for precise visual language. Moving between materials, subjects, and approaches, Flodberg uses representation unapologetically as a means of exploring both personal and political experience. The work draws upon observation, metaphor, memory, and material discovery, allowing meaning to emerge through the act of making. Rather than pursuing a fixed mode of working, Flodberg sees his practice as an ongoing inquiry: a way of finding personal meaning while responding honestly to the world inside and around him.
