Ross Bleckner is an American painter known for luminous, atmospheric works that examine memory, loss, mortality and transformation often through a medical lens. Rising to prominence in New York during the 1980s AIDS crisis, Bleckner developed a symbolic visual language of flowers, birds, cells, light and blurred forms, which address the vulnerability of the human body and the passage of time.
